ReStore FAQ:

restoreThe ReStore is a building materials thrift store, selling new and gently used items from which the proceeds are used to further Habitat for Humanity of Winchester-Frederick County’s mission to build simple, decent affordable homes for families in need. ReStore provides an opportunity for the public to buy quality building materials at 50% to 90% below wholesale.

Remember:

  • All donations are tax deductible. A receipt is available for your donation.
  • Recycling reduces the amount of usable goods going to the landfill.
  • Donors are recognized as Habitat for Humanity supporters.
  • Businesses can rotate inventory by donating overstock and discontinued merchandise.

Donate or Shop for:

Landscaping Materials and Equipment:
Nails, screws, hinges, fasteners, brackets, hooks, door and window hardware, cabinet pulls, handles, or door locks

Hardware:
Nails, screws, hinges, fasteners, brackets, hooks, door and window hardware, cabinet pulls, handles, or door locks

Large and Small Appliances:
Gently used and working microwaves, fans, vacuum cleaners, stoves, refrigerators

Miscellaneous:
Architectural items such as columns, mantels, posts, shelving and trim

Electrical Materials and Fixtures:
Outlet boxes, wall plates, chandeliers, lamps, switches, wire, lights

Windows and Doors:

Interior and exterior doors and windows

Plumbing Fixtures and Supplies:
Toilets, sinks, tubs, shower enclosures, fixtures

Furniture:
Dressers, shelving, kitchen and bathroom cabinets, bed frames, and non-upholstered furniture

Donations we cannot accept

  • Appliances (not working or dirty)
  • Consumer Electronics (Stereos, TV’s, Computers)
  • Broken glass
  • Broken mirrors
  • Clothing
  • Drapes
  • Pesticides (Liquid or powdered type)
  • Lumber with rot, nails or screws
  • Unframed glass
  • Windows that have broken glass

How to Donate

Donation Drop-offs
If you wish to bring items to the store, we will have someone meet you to help unload. Donations are accepted at our store during business hours.
Tuesday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday & Monday, closed

Donation Pick-ups
If the items are too large or you would like to have them picked up, we will schedule a convenient pick-up time. To contact us call (540) 662-9704

For the safest and most efficient collection of your donation, please follow these simple guidelines:

  • Have all materials boxed (if applicable), stacked and readily accessible.
  • Mark all items with a note that reads “For Habitat for Humanity”
  • Absolutely no hazardous materials or waste items are accepted
  • We are unable to haul away trash or sort items from those that do not meet our criteria
