I Want to Get Involved!

InterFaith Build 2009

InterFaith Build 2009 is the first Habitat project of its kind in Frederick County. Committed sponsors of diverse faith groups represented in our community are coming together to build an affordable, decent home for a deserving family. The project is located on Crooked Lane in Stephens City, Virginia. But, we’re not just building a home. We’re learning how we relate as faith communities.

Building on Faith
In many communities, when people of different faiths come together to build a Habitat for Humanity house, uncertainty gives way to laughter and individuals find new respect for one another. Coming together for the common goal of building a house with a neighbor in need has proven to be a successful way of creating a sense of unity.

A Spirit of Humility and Cooperation
As with any partnership, the key to developing interfaith projects is building relationships. Approaching new partners from a spirit of humility and cooperation sets the stage for success.

About the Familly
InterFaith 2009 will be the home of Rachel Wlash, single mother, and her four young children, Kyeara, James, Jamaal and Keleb. Rachel and her children currently live in cramped quarters where the children all must sleep together in one room. Rachel is doing the best she can to provide for her children by working and attending school to become a nurse. Her struggles are many, but she looks forward to the day when she can move into the affordable, four-bedroom home being built by the Covenant Partners and volunteers of InterFaith Build 2009.
